Common questions
Your Questions, Answered
Do you charge a call-out fee?
No. It is a $0 call-out fee for every job we quote in Caringbah, whether it is a simple drain clear or something bigger.
Is the quote really free?
Yes, the quote itself costs nothing. We look at the blockage, explain what is causing it, and give you a fixed price before any work starts. You decide whether to go ahead once you have the number in front of you.
What does "$50 off when you book online" cover?
Booking your job through our website takes $50 off the price we quote, on any blocked drain job. It stacks with the 10% seniors discount, so both can apply to the same booking.
How do quotes work?
We inspect the drain, tell you what we think is wrong, and put a fixed price in front of you before we start. There is no hourly rate ticking over and no surprise add-ons once we begin. If the job turns out to be bigger once we are inside the pipe, we stop and requote before going further.
What is an overflow relief gully and why does it matter?
It is the small grated pit, usually near an outside wall, designed to let sewage overflow into your yard rather than back up into the house if the line downstream blocks. Knowing where yours is means you can lift the lid and relieve pressure while you wait, instead of a blocked line coming up through a shower or toilet inside.
What warranty do I get?
A lifetime labour warranty on every drain we clear. If it's not right, we come back. No questions, no cost.
Can I clear a blocked drain myself?
A plunger or drain snake can shift a simple fixture blockage, and there is no harm trying one before you call. What a DIY attempt cannot tell you is why the drain blocked in the first place, which matters if roots or a cracked pipe are the real cause. Keep pushing past that point and you risk driving debris further into the line.
Do wipes really block drains?
Yes, even the ones labelled flushable. Wipes do not break down the way toilet paper does, so they snag on rough joints or roots inside the pipe and build into a solid mass with grease and fat. It is a common callout that has nothing to do with the age of the house.
How fast can you get here?
A licensed local plumber is on-site in 30 minutes, guaranteed, once you call. We run vans across the Sutherland Shire through the day and overnight, so a Caringbah callout is rarely far from one of our plumbers.
How do I book online?
Use the booking form on this site to describe the problem and pick a time, or call (02) 9139 8009 if you would rather speak to someone straight away. Either way you approve the price first, and booking online adds the $50 discount automatically.
What counts as a drain emergency?
Sewage backing up into a toilet, shower or sink, water pooling around the house that will not drain away, or a blockage that leaves you without a working bathroom. Anything overflowing inside the house is worth calling straight away rather than waiting.
What happens after I call?
A real person answers, not an answering machine, and takes down what is happening at your place. We dispatch the nearest plumber, they call ahead before arriving, and you approve the price before anything is touched.
Why do Caringbah's older drains keep blocking?
A lot of it comes down to what is under the ground rather than what happens above it. Post-war streets across Caringbah were laid with vitrified clay sewer pipes, and those joints crack and shift with decades of ground movement. Once a joint opens, tree roots and silt work their way in and the same section blocks again until the pipe itself is repaired.
How local are you, really?
We run jobs across Caringbah and the surrounding Sutherland Shire suburbs every week, including streets like Wandella Road and homes near Kareena Private Hospital. That is regular enough work that our plumbers know the difference between a post-war clay line and a newer PVC run before they even lift the manhole cover.
What suburbs do you service?
Caringbah, Caringbah South, Miranda, Cronulla, Gymea Bay and Sylvania, plus the rest of the Sutherland Shire area around them. If you are unsure whether your street falls inside that, call and ask.
Do tree roots really get into pipes here?
Yes, and it is one of the most common causes of repeat blockages on Caringbah's older blocks. Mature street trees send roots toward any moisture source, and a hairline crack in a clay joint is enough for them to get in. Once inside, roots thicken every season and the blockage returns faster each time until the pipe is cleared and checked on camera.
